Does remarriage affect child custody?

Legal wise, no. But Islamically, it can.

So legally speaking simply getting remarried is not a basis to change child custody.

Obviously, if that new person is a harm or a danger to the children, that might be different and you might need to file a motion for that.

Islamically speaking, if the wife gets remarried and they have children, then the custody may change depending on that situation.
