If you owe the wife deferred money that has not been paid yet, would the husband be barred from attending Hajj?
So the general rule for Hajj, is that the only types of debt that bar a person from making hajj are those debts that are currently requested and the person is unable to pay.
I'll give you an example, I borrow fifteen thousand dollars from you and you're waiting for me to pay.
Every month you're calling me, Joe I need you to pay the money that I lent you. Yeah, yeah I understand i'm gonna have the money soon.
And then you know 2024 rolls around it's dhul hijjah.
And I say, hey, Anon, say Mabrook. Like what? Just say Mabrook. Okay, Mabrook. Jazakallah khair. Thank you so much. You know, I'm gonna be making Hajj this year.
I just want to say thank you.
And you say, what do you mean you're making Hajj?
You owe me $15,000 and Hajj is like $20,000.
So you need to pay me before you can go for Hajj.
That's when it's not permissible for a person to make Hajj.
But if a person is up to date on their debts or those debts are not due yet.
They haven't been asked for and they can leave their family with enough money to survive in their absence.
Then it's permissible for them to make Hajj. But certainly if a woman is asking for the debt from the husband and he's refusing and he goes and makes hajj instead, he's definitely sinful.
